Battery Charging

You should fully charge the LS4278 scanner battery before using the scanner for the first time. To charge the scanner battery, place the scanner in the cradle, ensuring that the metal contacts on the bottom of the scanner touch the contacts on the cradle. The battery begins charging when the LED indicators will start flashing green. A complete charge of a fully discharged battery can take up to three hours using external power and up to five hours using non-external cable power.

After I scan a barcode, I'd like it to add an Enter key automatically

Open the Quick Start Guide fold-out sheet that came with the scanner. On side two under 'Helpful Bar Codes' you'll see a function called 'ADD AN ENTER KEY'. You'll need to scan a combination of three different barcodes and then your scanner will be configured to add an Enter key after scanned data.

Do I need a power adaptor?

A power adaptor is not necessary if you are connecting the cradle to your computer via the included USB cable.

Is my scanner connected to the computer?

The scanner cradle must be connected to your computer via the included USB cable. If this is successful your computer should install the drivers automatically (Windows 10+) and the green light on the cradle will light up. If the green cradle light is not lit; please unplug the USB cable from the computer and plug it into a different USB socket.

Once the cradle is connected to the computer successfully, the scanner itself will connect to the cradle via wireless Bluetooth. You can pair the scanner to the cradle by scanning the barcode on the cradle.

How do I configure the scanner?

The scanner comes with a Quick Start Guide fold-out sheet. This sheet provides setup information and configuration options which can be applied by scanning the appropriate barcode(s).  Alternately you can download and install the Zebra 123Scan software from the 'Software' tab which can provide full detection, firmware updates, and configuration options.
